My hometown is Kumamoto in Japan. I was born in Kumamoto in 1991. Kumamoto is surrounded nature and has fresh water. In Japan, it is only in Kumamoto that the city water is 100% ground water, so the production of farm products of Kumamoto is number one in Japan. The farm products of Kumamoto are cultivated using ground water. Because the people who are cultivating farm products use ground water, all the farm products of Kumamoto are flesh and delicious of course.
In addition, there is Kumamoto Castle which in the one of the three major castles in Kumamoto. It is very famous worldwide, and many tourists come every year from all over the world. Have you ever seen Kumamoto Castle? If you have never seen it, and if you get a chance when you come to Kumamoto, please see it. Surely you will be impressed. I think so.
These days, the Kyushu Shinkansen has started. That is good news for people living in Kumamoto and people from other prefectures of Kyushu, because it became very convenient for everyone. The travel time from city to city becomes considerably shorter than it has been. So I want people from other prefectures to come to Kumamoto. Kumamoto has a lot of famous hot springs like Kurokawa hot spring. There are many specialties in Kumamoto, such as basashi, karasirenkon, water melon, ikinaridango, taipyen, higozougan and many others. The caldera of Mt. Aso is largest in the world.
When I lived in the town which called Mifune in the days of elementary school, I played a lot with my friends. I was taken care of by my grandparents and my great grandmother very much. My great grandmother was always with me. She always took care of me. I thank her very much. When I was in the second grade at the elementary school, I moved to Kumamoto. When I compared Kumamoto with Mifune, I think Kumamoto is more of a city than Mifune. There are a lot of buildings, a lot of cars and a lot of people. But Mifune has a lot of beautiful mountains. The most famous mountain in Mifune is Mt. Iida. There are very beautiful green forests. In the forest, many birds fly and sing, many trees dance with wind, the sound of the flowing river echoes into the forest. To hear many sounds, surely everybody’s mind is refreshed.
When I was sixteen and lived in Mifune, only nine people were in my class. But in one class of the elementary school of Kumamoto, there were about thirty students. I was surprised by it. Kumamoto is a town with a lot of cars and people, but there are a lot of parks which are full of greenery. There are a lot of greenery in my university too. Kumamoto will be a town which is conscious of the tree planting of the town. I am proud of it.
